  • Key identification features : Evergreen tree, 5–6 m tall; young cones green and fleshy; young seeds whitish. Leaves simple, elongate-elliptic to elliptic-oblong, glossy, dark green above, light green beneath, apex and base acute, margin entire, blade 4–8 cm. Flowers diœcious, with female and pseudo-androgynous spikes on separate trees; pseudo-androgynous flowers lacking an inner perianth. Inflorescence axillary. Fruit ellipsoid to ovoid, green turning yellow or orange-red when ripe, glossy, and apiculate.
