  • Key identification features : Deciduous to semi-deciduous trees up to 40 m tall, trunk to 3 m diameter, with woody knees projecting to 1 m; Bark fissured, light brown turning grey, exfoliating in long fibrous strips; Shoots dimorphic—slender short green shoots and indeterminate long shoots with lateral branchlets; Leaves crowded, narrow, flat, 12 mm on short shoots, ~17 mm on long shoots, deciduous; Pollen cones yellowish-green, purplish to brown, solitary or paired; Seed cones spherical, 1.5–4 cm, clustered, green and fleshy when young, brown and woody at maturity, with 5–10 seed scales.
