- Key identification features : Evergreen tree, up to 15 m high; Stem glossy, with whitish coating, stipules broadly ovate, about 5 mm long, cuspidate at apex; Leaves oblong-obovate, 9-16 × 5-8 cm, base cuneate, apex acute, margin entire, petiole about 1 cm long, smooth; Inflorescence umbellate, peduncles short, 1-2 mm long; Flowers 8-12, white or cream, turns brown after pollination, 15-30 mm long, bracts 2, conical, keeled, glabrous; Calyx conical, 0.1 × 0.2 mm, slightly lobed; Hypanthium about 1 mm long, limb 4-teethed, about 0.5 mm long; Corolla 4- lobed, about 1 cm long, valvate, hairy at throat; Stamens 4, anthers about 0.2 mm long, filaments about 0.1 mm long, slightly hairy at base; Style about 1.5 cm long, stigma globose, flat, 0.5-1 mm across, rigid; Fruit drupe, obovoid or sub globose, 0.8-12 x 3-8 mm, glabrous; Seeds sub-globose, rugose, single in each pyrene.
