  • Key identification features : Small to medium tree, up to 15m tall; Branchlets terete, slightly flattened below the upper node, glabrous; Leaves elliptic to ovate, 5–12 × 2.5–6 cm, base cuneate or slightly oblique, apex acuminate, texture subcoriaceous to coriaceous, surface glabrous, petiole 2-5 mm long; Inflorescence cymose, 1.5-2 cm long, many-flowered, borne on leaf axils, peduncle 7-10 mm long; Flowers purple, pedicel 1-2 mm long, bracts and bracteoles about 0.5mm long, caducous; Calyx campanulate, 1.5–2 × 2–3 mm, shortly 4-lobed, petals broadly ovate to suborbicular, 2.5–3 × c. 3 mm, Filaments about 2 mm long, anthers about 2 mm long, with distinct gland, style about 3 mm long, stigma minute; Fruit globose, 7-10 mm in diameter.
