  • Key identification features : Tree, 6-12 m or more in height; Base of the trunk variously, enormously enlarged, in young ones the base forms a globular swollen body crowned by a cluster of leaves, in very old plants the base becomes dome-shaped, enlarged base measures about 1-2 m high, 2-7 m in circumference; Trunk above the swollen base in comparatively slender, often much branched, each branch is crowned with cluster of slender leaves; Leaves erect, linear, slender, narrow, 25-40 cm long, 4-6mm wide above the base; Inflorescence paniculate; Fruit 3-winged.
