  • Key identification features : Branchlets striate, stout, older branchlets dark brown, younger branchlets minutely puberulous with fine, crisped, caducous hairs, appressed bristles present, especially on petiole and midrib; Leaves narrowly subcuneate-oblong or lanceolate-oblong, apex shortly acuminate, 1-2 ft long, 3-6 inches wide at the middle, upper surface shining, black-punctate under the lens, lower surface whitish-glaucous, strong midrib becoming much attenuate toward the apex; Buds axillary, elongated, loosely imbricate, scales ovate-rounded and velvety.
