  • Key identification features : Large shrub or small tree; Branches slender, glabrous; Stipules triangular-lanceolate to ovate, apex acuminate, surface glabrous; Leaves simple, elliptic-lanceolate or oblanceolate, 12–40 × 3–6 cm, apex caudate-acuminate, base salver-shaped, texture membranous, surface glabrous, blackish when dry, lamina narrowed into short petiole; Inflorescence cymes inclined or drooping, peduncles long, slender, up to 15cm long, surface glabrate or pubescent, bracts linear-subulate, lower pair leafy; Flowers pentamerous, yellowish; Calyx teeth subulate, teeth shorter than calyx tube; Corolla puberulous, corolla tube up to 3cm long, tube slender, much longer than the lobes, lobes broadly oblong, throat glabrous; Stigma shortly exerted, slender, style fusiform, slender, ovules one in each locule; Fruit purplish-black colour, globose, pulpy.
