  • Key identification features : Branches striate, becomes glabrescent with age, apparently dark purple; Leaves opposite, petiolate, blade thin, ovate or ovate-lanceolate, 10-20cm long, apex sharply acuminate, base rounded, petiole 2-4 cm long; Inflorescence terminal cymes, erect, shortly stalked, shorter than leaves, about 10cm in diameter, dense, many-flowered, nearly flat, rust-coloured pubescent, branches rather stout; Flower buds well developed, about 5mm long, buds acute, pedicel very short; Calyx tube unribbed, covered with mixture of simple, 2-rayed hairs, calyx teeth linear, teeth 1-1.5mm long, conspicuous; Fruit drupe, globose, 4-5mm diameter.
