  • Key identification features : Large deciduous tree, up to 30m tall, possesses long, straight bole; Bark dark grey-brown, soon becomes deeply fissured, forms small oblong plates; Leaves 4–8 × 6–9 cm, usually 5 deeply cut, narrow lobes, lobes coarsely glandular-toothed, often lobulate, both surfaces generally glabrous, petiole 3-5cm long; Fruit-balls small, about 2.5cm diameter, surface smooth between conical, twisted projections formed by each seed.
