- Key identification features : Shrub or tree, branches erect, young branches whitish, hairy, older becomes brown; Leaves semi-evergreen, reddish stipules, as long as petioles, petiole short, rarely exceeding 3mm, leaf blade ovate-lanceolate, apex ending in short slender, rigid point, upper surface nearly glabrous, slightly glossy when mature, with impressed veins, lower surface densely covered with short, silky, silvery-white felted hairs, sometimes with golden reflections, leaf size up to 3.5 cm long × 2 cm wide; Flowers borne in clusters of 5-15, arranged in terminal corymbs, bracts pink, linear; Calyx densely covered with woolly tomentum, corolla only slightly open, petals erect, white with red markings on outer surface, ovary composed of 3 carpels, styles shorter than stamens; Fruits drupe, oblong, 1cm long, 6-7mm wide, orange-yellow, crowned by persistent calyx lobes, which bend downward and meet at tips, closing the fruit's upper cavity.
