  • Key identification features : Medium to large tree; Leaves imparipinnate, 7-9 leaflets, 6-11 inches long, stipules obsolete or absent; Leaflets petiolulate, oblanceolate or ovate, apex acuminate, base cuneate, upper surface glabrous, lower surface lightly or obscurely silky; Inflorescence raceme, grouped into loose terminal panicles, raceme 3-6 inches long, covered with ferruginous pubescence; Bracts lanceolate, pedicel bear 2 small, subulate bracteoles at the apex; Flowers relatively large, 1.9-2.5cm in diameter, petals longer than calyx; Calyx deeply 5-parted, tube shortly turbinate, lobes oblong-lanceolate, somewhat obtuse, two posterior lobes more deeply united; Corolla standard orbicular with very short claw, winged petals clawed, keel petals similar to wings, obliquely oblong-obovate, obtuse, clawed; Ovary hirsute, style involute at the apex, ovules 3-4.
