  • Key identification features : Deciduous shrub or small tree, slender, erect branches, young shoots covered with gland-tipped hairs; leaves doubly pinnate, about 8 inches long, composed of about 9-11 pairs of primary divisions; Leaflets numerous, small, glabrous, oblong, about ¼ inch long, about 1⁄12 inch wide; Inflorescence raceme, terminal, stiffly erect, 1 foot or more long, bears 30-40 flowers; Flowers bornw on downy stalk, pedicel 1 inch or more long,sepals about ¾ inch long, petals rich yellow, about 1¼ inches long, saucer-shaped, stamens scarlet, 2½–3 inches long; Fruit pod, about 3 inches long, about ⅝ inch wide.
