- Key identification features : Young parts densely villous or tomentose; Branchlets covered with dense tomentum; Leaves elliptic to oblong, apex acute or acuminate, margin serrated, upper surface pubescent, lower surface initially shortly tomentose, later becomes villous; Inflorescence axillary racemes, solitary or sometimes paired, often longer than the leaves, branched, rachis hairy; Flowers: calyx 4, glabrous, sepals unequal, lateral pair orbicular, petals 4, spathulate, hairy, with 4 fleshy glands at the base, ovary hairy, minute, style compressed, ends in 2 spreading stigmas; Fruit berry, 2-lobed, sometimes 1-lobed, lobes obovate, obtuse, glabrous, likely red, succulent when ripe; Seeds fleshy, foliaceous, folded.
