  • Key identification features : Deciduous, very spiny or small tree, 8-20 feet, often equally wide; Branchlets smooth, green, crooked, angular; Spines 1-2 inches, very stiff, straight, sharply pointed; Leaves compound, trifoliolate, sometimes pentafoliolate, leaflets obovate, terminal leaflet 1.5–2 inches long, lateral leaflets about half the size, petiole winged; Flower axillary, sweetly scented, pure white, 1.5–2 inches across, petals 4 or 5, concave, obovate, stamens numerous, pink, filaments free; Fruit resembles a small orange in shape and colour, about 1.5 inches across, surface covered with hairs.
