  • Key identification features : Shrub or small tree, 3-7m high; Stem branched, woody, 3-8cm diameter, grey or brownish-grey, surface with hard pickles; Leaves 1.5–7 cm long, 1–3 cm wide, light green to dark green; Inflorescence clustered, acrogenous, branched, 2-6cm long, rachis covered with pubescence; Flowers unisexual, white or pale yellow, fragrant; Male flower: 5-8 stamens, prresence of 2-lobed rudimentary gynoecium; Female flowers: 2-3 carpels; Fruit follicle, globular, 4-5mm diameter, surface covered with numerous warty oil dots, outer surface red or purplish-red, inner surface yellowish.
