  • Key identification features : Trees, up to 30m high, mostly glabrous except inflorescences; Branchlets blackish-brown when dry, sparsely lenticellate, lenticels slightly raised; Leaves 10–19 × 4–8 cm, papery, concolorous, without scale-like glands, base rounded to auriculate, sometimes obtuse, margin entire, apex acute to obtuse, petiole 3–7 mm long; Female inflorescence 10-35cm long, rachis puberulent, cupules arranged in clusters of 3-5; Infructescence up to 35cm long, rachis 0.8-1.4cm thick; Cupule: 6–8 mm × 1–1.5 cm, encloses less than half of the nut, dark grey, wall basally thickened, bracts imbricate, small, appressed, only the subulate apex visible; Nut broadly conical, 1–1.4 × 1.5–2 cm, scar concave.
