- Key identification features : Tree, 15-20m tall, branches often produce aerial roots, branchlets straight, dull yellowish-brown; Bark grey, smooth; Stipules lanceolate, 1.5-2.5cm long, membranous, glabrous; Leaves oblong to broadly ovate, 4–12(–15) cm long × 3–6(–7) cm broad, glabrous, base rounded to broadly cuneate, margin entire, apex acuminate to mucronate, petiole robust, 0.9-1.8cm long, glabrous; Inflorescence axillary on leafy branchlets, paired or sometimes solitary, globose to oblong, 1.5-1.8cm diameter, yellow when mature, surface smooth, sessile, apical pore lip-like; Bracts 3, small, involucral bracts broadly ovate, 3–10 × 3–13 mm, persistent, conspicuous; Male flowers: few, sessile, calyx 3 lobes, stamen 1, filament shorter than anther, anther cordate; Gall flowers sessile or pedicellate, calyx lobes united, 4-lobed at apex, ovary smooth, style short, somewhat lateral; Female flowers:calyx 4, style long; Fruit achene, sparsely tuberculate.
