  • Key identification features : Medium-sized tree, about 20 feet high, trunk tolerably straight, bark dirty olive color, branches numerous, spreading, young bark rough, hairy; Leaves alternate, mostly unequally long-cordate, apex cuspidate, young leaves margin serrulate, mature leaves margin entire, texture firm, hard, scabrous, especially on upper surface, 4–10 inches long, about half as broad, petiole short, stipules interfoliaceous, caducous; Inflorescence numerous long, procumbent, diverging, or drooping branches, highly branched, leafless and arise from lower part of trunk; Female flowers: perianth of 5 lanceolate leaflets; Male flowers: few in number, monoandrous, perianth 3-lobed; Fruit fig, roundish, scaly, warted, densely crowded, sessile, large scale umbilicus present.
