- Key identification features : Tree, up to 20m high, dbh up to 40cm; Branchlets brown, either with brown pubescence or glabrous; Mature bark grey; Stipules lanceolate, pubescent, 0.3-0.5cm long, caducous; Leaves deciduous, 3–10 × 3.5–6 cm, elliptical to ovate, papery, margin subentire to crenate, apex acute to acuminate, upper surface inconspicuously pubescent when young, lower surface pubescence along veins or in tufts at vein axils, petiole 0.3-1cm long, furrowed, pubescent on upper side; Flowers arranged in densely clustered cymes, position leaf axils, base of young stems; Infructescence unbranched, 1-3 per leaf axil, 0.4-1cm long; Fruit globose, 0.5-0.8cm in diameter, green to red to black during maturation.
