  • Key identification features : Low tree, bark grey; Leaves oblong-elliptic or oblong-lanceolate, apex acuminate, base slightly unequal, somewhat narrowed, 4–6 inches long, about 1.5–2 inches broad, thinly coriaceous, surface glabrous, slightly shining on both sides, petiole about 2mm long, finely wrinkled, glabrous, stipules present, but caducous; Inflorescence- male fascicles on old wood; Male flowers: pedicel 8.4-12.6mm long, flower size about 6.3mm diameter, sepals 5, suborbicular, glabrous, stamens numerous; Female flowers: similar to male flowers, ovary globose, stigma dilated, retuse; Fruit: young fruits blackish, pericarp hard.
