  • Key identification features : Much-branched shrub or small tree, 4-5m high, sometimes 12m tall, crown rounded with arching branches; Bark red-brown or grey, trunk short bole, deeply grooved; Leaves long, narrow, up to 15cm long, apex pointed, upper surface light grey-green, rough, lower surface covered with dense white-brown hairs, petiole about 1cm long; Inflorescence long spike, up to 20cm long; Flowers bright orange, tubular, borne in small groups, odour shape, rather unpleasant smell; Fruit small, dry capsules, open at the tip when mature.
