  • Key identification features : Shrub or small tree, up to 10m high; Young branchlets covered with grey-brown stellate hairs, becomes nearly glabrescent with age; Leaves papery to thick texture, two basal leaves on each branchlet are more or less opposite, while the remaining leaves are alternate, 6-8cm long, 3-4cm wide, oblong to narrowly elliptic, upper surface sparsely covered with stellate hairs, lower surface glabrous to sparsely or densely stellate-hairy, on veins and vein axils, margin glandular-serrate, apex acuminate to caudate, base rounded to variably cuneate, petiole less than 1cm long; Inflorescence pseudoterminal or axillary, sometimes racemose; Flowers up to 2.5cm long, pedicel 0.2-1.3cm long, calyx lobes irregularly 2–3 toothed, densely covered with grey and orange to brown stellate hairs, corolla up to 1.9cm long, white or pink, corolla tube 0.3-0.4cm long, lobes 4, 1.1-1.8cm, obovate to obovate-elliptic, stamens 8-10; Fruit ovoid, up to 2cm in diameter, covered with yellow-grey stellate hairs.
