  • Key identification features : Tree, up to 20m tall, seldom exceeding 30cm dbh, inner and outer blaze sometimes separated by thin red layer; Leaves 6–19 × 2.5–7 cm, petiole 0.5-1.0cm, flat to slightly grooved above, glands sparsely scattered; Male flowers: 3-12, in axillary fascicles, calyx shallowly 3–4-lobed, sparsely clothed with pale appressed hairs, corolla campanulate, tube 2–2.5 mm long, glabrous, 3–4 lobes, stamens 8–16 (–20), fused at base in pairs, also fused to corolla tube, pistillode 0.5–0.75 mm long, glabrous; Female flowers: 3-10 flowers per fascicle, calyx 3-4-lobed, corolla 3-4 lobes, tube 2-2.5mm long, staminodes 0-4, ovary 2-3mm long, 6-locular; Fruit seated on a persistent 3–4-lobed glabrous calyx, appressed to the base, globular, glabrous, diameter 10-15mm; Seeds 4-6 per fruit, 10-11mm long.
