- Key identification features : Tree, up to 10m tall, bark brownish, branches slender, glabrous; Leaves elliptic-lanceolate, 8–13.6 × 1.7–3.8 cm, base cuneate, slightly oblique, margin entire, apex acute to acuminate, shiny, glabrous, petiole slightly twisted, 8-11mm long; Female inflorescence axillary fascicles, solitary or 2-4 flowered, pedicel about 2.5mm long, bracts deciduous; Calyx campanulate, 5-lobed, tube about 2.5mm long, lobes triangular, about 1.5mm long, margins reflexed, apex acute-acuminate, outside sparsely hispid, inside glabrous, turns black when dry; Corolla white, twisted, lobes oblong-lanceolate, undulate at margins, acute at apex, 5 × 2 mm, glabrous; Ovary ovoid, about 2mm long, glabrous with single ovule, styles 4, connate at base, glabrous; Stamens 8-10, filaments terete, about 2.5mm long, glabrous, anthers sterile.
