  • Key identification features : Evergreen tree, up to 40m high, trunk up to 250cm dbh, mature trees form broad, domed crown; Bark initially smooth, becomes platy, flaky in older, larger trees; Branchlets more or less quadrangular within dense foliar units; Leaves spirally arranged, young leaves straight or falcate, up to 18cm long, adult leaves 3–6 cm long, 2–4 mm wide, grey-green colour, apex acute; Seed cones solitary on branchlets, when mature single seed enclosed by a fleshy epimatium, epimatium ripens from green to yellow or orange, oblong, pear-shaped or spherical, 15-20mm long; Seed single with hard, smooth seed coat.
