  • Key identification features : Large evergreen tree, up to 15m or more, young branches hairy, hairs lost with age; Bark dark grey, rough with grooves; Leaves up to 5 × 8 cm, widest in the middle or towards the apex, apex, usually notched, sometimes rounded or sharply pointed, base narrowing towards the petiole, petiole about 1cm long, upper surface shiny green, lower surface dull green; Flowers star-like appearance, cream coloured, petals arranged in two whorls, arise serveral together in each leaf axil; Fruit orange to red, round, up to 2.5cm in diameter, rough, pulp encloses several seeds.
