- Key identification features : Tree; Leaves smooth, thick, leathery, crowded toward the tips of branches, obovate-oblong, 8–9 cm long, about 3 cm wide, base narrowed, apex rounded, shallowly notched, midrib prominent; Inflorescence solitary or paired, axillary, in the axils of fallen leaves; Bracts triangular, small, inconspicuous; Pedicel 12-14mm long, thickened towards the apex; Calyx 6-parted, lobes arranged in two series, valvate in bud, sepals ovate, thick, smooth, 3 × 2–2.5 mm; Corolla tube smooth, 3mm long, lobes 6, ovate, slightly auriculate at base, 2.5-3mm long; Petals 6, ovate, smooth; Stamens 6, opposite petals, filaments inserted at base of corolla tube, 1mm long, anthers ovate-triangular, apically pointed, slightly exserted, 1.5mm long; Staminodes 6, rectangular, broad, apex toothed, 1mm long, inserted at base of corolla tube; Ovary 6-7-locular, surface ribbed, hairy, with 6 ribs, style smooth, 3mm long, stigma not coiled.
