- Key identification features : Shrub or small tree, 2-8m high; Bark dark grey, smooth; Twigs nearly cylindrical, glabrous, becomes lenticellate with age; Leaves alternate to subopposite, 1-3 foliolate, chartaceous, glabrous, leaflets elliptic, 7–11 × 4.3–6.2 cm, apex rounded, retuse, base obtuse, unequal in lateral leaflets, margin entire, slightly revolute, petiole 5–6.5 cm long, rachis 2.5–4.5 cm long, furrowed, petiolules about 5 mm long; Inflorescence solitary axillary racemes, axis 10-25cm long; Flowers few to numerous, clayx 5-lobed, 0.6–0.7 mm long, petals 3.2–4 mm long, apex inflexed, stamens 5, filaments adnate to the nectary disk, carpels adnate to the disk, glabrous, style subapical; Fruit capsule, brownish, mericarps nearly obovoid in outline; Seeds black, kidney-shaped, 6-9mm long.
