  • Key identification features : Tree, 40-50 ft tall, entirely glabrous except for the ovaries; Branches slender, firm, angular, olive-brown on upper parts; Leaves elliptic-lanceolate, 8–14 cm long, 2.2–4 cm wide, base somewhat acute, apex long cuspidate-acuminate, margin sparsely, faintly denticulate, above, upper surface olive-brownish, lower surface slightly paler, texture rigidly chartaceous, scarcely coriaceous, petiole about 5mm long; Flowers numerous, clustered, glabrous, male and female flowers seperate, pedicel thick, dark brown to blackish, slightly viscid, twice as long as the calyx; Clayx in male flowers about 1.5mm long, 2 lobes, broadly obovate, concave, in female flowers about 2mm long, equalling the pedicel, lobes unequal, two outer opposite lobes larger, all lobes ciliate-denticulate along the margin; Ovary densely silky; Fruit 2cm long, 11mm wide.
