- Key identification features : Tree, 15-20m tall, crown rounded, 8-15m wide, thin to dense, trunk short, crooked; Bark fibrous, flakey, grey to black, persistent on trunk and smaller branches, secondary and tertiary branches smooth, whitish; Young leaves: alternate, lanceolate to broadly lanceolate, 7–15 cm long, 0.4–4 cm wide, green to grey-green, slightly discolorous; Adult leaves: alternate, terete, linear-lanceolate to broadly lanceolate, 8–16(–17) cm long, (0.8–)1–2.5 cm wide, petiole 8–15(–17) mm long; Inflorescence terminal panicle of umbels, peduncles terete, 4–9 mm long; Flowers white, rarely pink or red, 1cm across; Flower buds: ovoid, rarely fusiform, 3–4 mm long, 2–3 mm wide, calyptra hemispherical, apiculate or conical, 1–2 mm long, hypanthium obconical, about 2 mm long, often glaucous; Fruit hemispherical or obconical, 2.5–5 mm long, 4–7 mm wide, wall thin, disc very narrow, ascending if present, valves 3 or 4, strongly exserted; Seeds ovoid to slightly angular or flattened-ovoid, reddish-brown to yellowish-brown.
