  • Key identification features : Evergreen tree, 9-27m tall, trunk pale yellow to pale green, bark smooth, exfoliating, with age develops large, swollen woody caudex at the base; Leaves alternate, ovate to cordate, sometimes cordate-orbicular with overlapping basal lobes, 7-12cm across, dark to pale green, leaves, petioles, and branchlets covered with fine fuzz, prominent with distinctive scarlet veins, presence of white hairs in tufts along vein axils; Flowers enclosed within the fig syconium, green; Fruits figs, small, about ½ inch in diameter, roughly nickel-sized, appear in pairs.
