  • Key identification features : Tree, up to 25m tall in wild, trunk may exceed 1m in diameter, monoecious; bark smooth, greyish-brown, showing horizontal patterning; Leaves spirally arranged, petiolate, leaf blades thinly to thickly leathery, oblong to oval to lance-shaped or elliptical, size variable, dark green, glossy above, thick, leathery; Flowers minute, inconspicuous, borne inside a fleshy receptacle; Fruit syconia, solitary or in pairs, axillary, somewhat round, 3-6mm across when dry, whitish to pinkish at maturity, with a perforated tip, color changes from green to purple on ripening.
