  • Key identification features : Large deciduous tree, up to 35m high, trunk diameter up to 2m, crown moderately spreading, bole branchless up to 10-20m from ground; Bark greyish-brown to grey, surface bears thorn-like protuberances; Leaves alternate, trifoliolate, leaflets rhomboid-oval to oval, 15-25cm long, glandular stipules present below the paired lateral leaflets, stiplues large, cup-shaped; Inflorescence racemes, 10-20cm long; Flowers caducous, orange to reddish, petals 5, upper petal broad, open, stamens 10, anthers brown; Fruit pod, 12-25cm long, falcate, slightly depressed between seeds, long-stalked, pointed at both ends; Seeds, brown, slightly curved, 1-2cm long.
