  • Key identification features : Evergreen shrub or small- to medium-sized tree, up to 10m high, crown dense, somewhat rounded, main stem straight, either broad or much branched; Bark smooth, grey on young branches, becomes rough, brown with age; Leaves simple, alternate, tapering at both ends, 20-120mm long, 10-80mm broad, blade smooth, upper surface dark green, lower surface slightly velvety, margin wavy, petiole thickened at both ends; Inflorescence axillary racemes, about 60mm long; Flower pea-shaped, white with a golden-yellow ultraviolet-sensitive spot on the upper petal, strongly violet-scented; Fruit flat pod, brown to balck, about 100mm long.
