  • Key identification features : Large deciduous tree, up to 30m high, trunk tall, straight, cylindrical, diameter about 1m; Bark smooth, greyish, often peels in thin layers, peeling exposes a lighter inner surface; Leaves simple, thick, elliptical, up to 15cm long, upper surface dark green, lowers surface lighter green, prominent midrib with crisp leaf margins; Inflorescence spikes; Flowers small, inconspicuous, white to yellow; Fruit small, oval, brownish, capsules, hang in clusters, on maturity fruits dry and split.
