  • Key identification features : Deciduous, multi-trunked large shrub or small tree, 20-30feet height; Bark light grey, smooth, lenticels small, inconspicuous; Leaves narrowly elliptic, oblong or narrowly obovate, leathery, base acute to cuneate, margin flat, teeth low, single, relatively distant, apex acute, obtuse or rounded, abaxial syrface mostly glabrous, young leaves resin-coated; Inflorescence catkin, staminate catkins: arranged in one terminal cluster, 2-4 per cluster, 2-6cm long, pistillate catkins: solitary, at leaf axils, located proximal to staminate catkins; Infructescence ovoid, 1.2–2.8 × 1.2–2.2 cm, peduncles 5–10 mm long, fruits samara, elliptic, wings reduced to narrow, leathery ridges.
