  • Key identification features : Trees small to middle-sized, thorny, deciduous, 3-7 m tall. Leaf-buds covered with broad, densely white silky scales. Leaves elongate-elliptic, blade 5-7 cm, narrowed into a petiole 2.5 cm long; secondary nerves 4-6 pairs, oblique, arching. Male flowers in tomentose racemiform panicles; bisexual flowers solitary. Fruit a large, edible, pyriform drupe, green when young; seed globose.
