  • Key identification features : Large evergreen tree, 15–21 m tall, dbh 22–30 cm; bark smooth, black, lenticellate; slash pale brown turning orange-brown. Branchlets, petioles, and undersides of leaves densely and softly rusty-tomentose; upper leaf surface glabrous except along tomentose nerves and midrib. Leaves coriaceous, blade 7–12 cm, margins with short, distant teeth. Panicles longer than the leaves, softly tomentose. Flowers small, nearly sessile; Petals light yellow, disk very shallow, acutely 5-toothed. Fruit a drupe, green, densely pubescent.
