  • Habitat : Growing primarily in the wet tropical biomes and coastal beaches.
  • Comments / notes : Rare in Tropical evergreen forests. Sadddle peak
  • Key identification features : A spreading, much-branched tree, 10 m tall; dbh c. 15 cm, often slanting almost horizontally towards rivers (riparian). Outer bark light brown. Branchlets, young leaves, inflorescence, twigs, midrib, and fruit rusty-pubescent with scurfy brown hairs. Crushed twigs fragrant. Leaves dark green above, pale green beneath, alternate to pseudowhorled. Flowers 6 mm across, in lax pedunculate compound corymbs; sepals narrow, acuminate. Fruit yellow, dehiscent with 4 lobes; seeds many and bright red.
