  • Habitat : Small to medium sized trees 4–16 m tall, dbh 15–24 cm; bark thickened, rough or scaly, light brown to blackish brown; inner bark dark reddish; branchlets grey to light brown. Sap absent. Leaves simple, entire, alternate, oblong lanceolate, blade bright to dull dark green above, light green beneath; young leaves edible. Flowers in cymose clusters, axillary or along the stem; yellow, odorless; sepals light yellow; anthers pale yellow; pedicels pale greenish white. Fruit a depressed-globose capsule, pale green to cream, turning reddish.
