  • Key identification features : Tree up to 7 m tall, dbh 21–30 cm; bark thick, rough with vertical ridges, brown, lacking sap; stipules strong and spine-like. Branchlets angular, pubescent; mature leaves glabrous, elliptic-oblong, 3–7 cm long, blade dull dark green above and dull light green beneath. Flowers light yellow green; males small, glabrous or slightly hairy with capillary pedicels and short connective; female flowers sessile, clustered, hairy with conical, truncate style, ovary moderately hairy. Fruit green-flushed, red or white with pale light greenish hue; sessile, depressed, 16–20 lobed.
