  • Key identification features : Trees up to 25 m tall; Branchlets subterete or slightly compressed, fulvous tomentose; Internodes 1.5–3 cm long; Leaves simple, opposite, ovate-oblanceolate, 7–12.5 × 3.5–4.5 cm, acuminate at apex, margin entire, not revolute, rounded at base, chartaceous, fulvous tomentose when young, later glabrescent, exstipulate; Petioles 1–1.2 cm long, fulvous tomentose, rounded beneath, flat above; Flowers solitary, axillary or rarely in 3-flowered terminal racemes up to 2 cm long, Peduncle 1–1.5 cm long, fulvous tomentose, Pedicels stout, 0.7–1 cm long, terete, fulvous tomentose, Bracts linear, 0.4–0.5 cm long, Bracteoles linear, 0.4–0.7 cm long, fulvous tomentose; Calyx tube obconic, adnate to ovary, fulvous tomentose, Calyx lobes 4, subequal, ovate, 0.5–0.7 cm diameter, fulvous hairy on adaxial surface, silky and white glandulate on abaxial surface, Petals 4, orbicular, ~1.2 cm diameter, slightly clawed at base, margin silky, rounded at apex, silky on adaxial side, glabrous on abaxial side, Disc flat, quadrangular, hairy, 0.5–0.7 cm diameter, glandulate; Stamens numerous, unequal, 0.5–1.5 cm long, Filaments filiform, 0.5–1.5 cm long, Anthers ovate, 2-celled, ca. 0.15 cm diameter, versatile; Ovary globose, 2-celled, ca. 0.5 cm diameter, with 10–15 ovules arranged axile, Style subulate, ca. 1.2 cm long, Stigma simple, acute at apex; Fruit drupe, globose, 1.5cm diameter, fulvous tomentose with persistent calyx.
