  • Key identification features : Large tough shrub or small tree to 6 m tall, often armed with axillary spines; branches exude white latex when cut. Leaves alternate, membranous, penninerved, margin serrate. Flowers dioecious; male flowers creamy whitish green with inflexed stamens; female flowers subtended by sepals and crowned by a lateral, 2-partite style. Fruit obliquely subglobose.
