- Key identification features : Shrub or small tree, up to 2 meters high; Bark light brown; Branchlets terete, with two longitudinal grooves, internodes 1–2.5 cm long; Leaves simple, opposite, elliptic-lanceolate, 1.5–3 × 1–1.5 cm, thinly coriaceous or membranous texture, base obtuse to rarely obtusely acute, margin entire, apex obtusely acuminate; Petiole 2–3 mm long, rounded beneath and grooved above; Inflorescence lateral, rarely axillary glomerules, 1-1.5cm diameter, peduncle inconspicuous or indistinct; Flowers bisexual, actinomorphic, 50–100 per axil, approximately 5mm in diameter; Pedicels terete, 1.5-2mm long; Bracts ovate, ca 0.25mm long, acute at apex; Calyx saucer-shaped, ca. 1.5 mm in diameter, surface epapillate outside, lobes 4, obscurely 4-toothed; Petals 4, orbicular, ca. 1.1 × 1.2 mm, base truncate, margin entire, apex rounded; Stamens 8, equal, sub-reflexed, ca. 1.8 mm long, filaments thin, 1.6mm long, anthers 2-celled, medifixed, J-shaped, 0.8 × 0.3 mm, rounded at apex, attenuate at base; Ovary inferior, globose, 1-celled, free central placentation, ovules 1-3, style subulate, 2-2.7mm long; Fruit drupe, ovoid, ca. 6 mm in diameter.
