  • Key identification features : Evergreen treelet or small tree, 4–5(–5) m tall; Leaves dull dark green above, bright light green beneath, base rounded, apex acute to subacuminate; Flowers medium-sized, blue (rarely white), petals and stamens pale blue, connective blue with dark brown gland, locules white, buds obtuse; Pedicel and sepals pale pink; Calyx-tube saucer-shaped at anthesis, limb truncate; Disc prominent at ovary apex; Fruit a globose to slightly ovoid berry, black-purple.
