  • Key identification features : Tree up to 10 m tall; Leaves apically crowded, alternate to subopposite, spreading to descending, strongly conduplicate, blades oblong to ovate-oblong, apex obtuse to acute, recurved; base cuneate to broadly obtuse; Inflorescences ascending, short-branched above middle; stalks deep shining red; Flowers yellowish-green, in 2–3-flowered clusters at branchlet tips, subrecurved. Calyx 6, margins puberulent; Stamens in 3 whorls: outer 6 introrse; inner 3 extrorse, alternating with 3 spatulate staminodes; truncate; Filaments with large rugose lateral glands; style short. Bark light grey, smooth or peeling in small irregular plates, thick, yellowish beneath.
