  • Key identification features : Medium to large buttressed trees, 8–14 m in height; Bark brown; Branchlets angular, covered with appressed hairs when young; Leaves opposite or subopposite, ovate to broadly elliptic or lanceolate, 5-16.7cm long, 2.2-8.5cm wide, coriaceous (leathery), surface smooth, glossy dark green above, pale and glabrous beneath, with a faint cinnamon scent, base cuneate or obtuse, apex acute, petioles stout, 1-1.8cm long, flat on upper side; Inflorescence few-flowered, panicles terminal or arising from the axils of terminal leaves or extra-axillary, peduncle thickened, 3-13.5cm long; Flowers yellowish green, measuring 7-12mm * 3-3.5mm, appressed pubescent, Tepals 6, in 2 whorls of 3; ovate to elliptic, ~4.5 mm long, densely sericeous, apex acute, incurved, Stamens 9, arranged in 3 whorls of 3, Ovary ellipsoid, ~1.6 mm long, glabrous, Style 1.6-2mm long, thick, Stigma peltate; Fruit ellipsoid, about 2.5cm long, cupule cup-shaped with conical base, retaining remnants of tepal bases.
