  • Key identification features : Slender trees to 12 m high, branches crooked, twigs lax, grayish-brown, lenticelled, horizontal or drooping and glabrous. Leaves alternate, coriaceous, subpendant, conduplicate, ovate-elliptic to oblong, acuminate; cuneate or obtuse at base; petiole 1 cm, black and canaliculate with distal glands. Inflorescence axillary spike, up to 5 cm; flowers cream-colored, fragrant; perianth, subcoriaceous with 15 segments; stamens numerous, filiform; anthers dorsifixed, ovary ellipsoid; stigma green. Young fruits ellipsoid, 1.25 cm, green, with red seeds.
