  • Key identification features : Small trees 4-6 m tall, branchlets scurfy pubescent; Leaves 3.5-13.5 × 1-4 cm, alternate, elliptic or linear-oblong, crenate-serrate, thinly coriaceous, glabrous or glabrescent, acuminate at apex, acute or subcordate at base, stipules longer than the petioles, petioles up to 0.5 cm long; Male flowers very minute in interrupted clusters on slender spikes up to 15 cm long; Female flowers solitary or few, axillary, pedicellate. Fruit capsules 1-3 cm in diameter, subglobose, stellately pubescent.
