  • Key identification features : Small to medium-sized tree, reaching heights of 4–10 meters; Branches lender, slightly grooved, glabrous; Leaves oblong to elliptic-oblong, measuring 13–15.5 cm long and 4–6 cm wide, coriaceous, base rounded to cuneate, margin subentire, undulate or shallowly crenate, apex acute to acuminate; Petiole 7–11 mm long, canaliculate; Inflorescence pubescent; Flowers small, clustered, axillary or above the scars of fallen leaves, subsessile, staminate flowers: sepals concave, with scurfy hairs on the outer surface, ciliate margin, stamens 3-6, disc plicate, dentate, with a short inner process that embraces the base of the filaments, pistillate flowers: spelas orbicular, concave, ovary pubescent, 2 or 3 locular, stigma 2 or 3, obtriangular; Fruit ellipsoid, 1.5–2 cm long, obscurely 4-lobed, puberulous, orange when ripe; Pedicel short, thick, around 2.5 mm long.
